The Pedlar Funeral Home Bantam Panthers finished off their regular season in 1st place with a 21-2-4 record.
In the final game of the season, the team faced Pelham #1. The Pedlar Panthers took command of the game early posting a 4-0 lead. Goals were scored by Dan Durkin from Matt Vandenhaak & Jacob Gula; Ethan Wellman helped by Vandenhaak & Zach Baltrusiunas; Jacob Gula from Jack Obdeyn & Vandenhaak; and Matt Vandenhaak with the help of Gula & Joey Natale.
But Pelham 1 came on strong in the 2nd frame and knotted it up with 4 unanswered goals. Jack Obdeyn took the lead back with the assistance of Durkin, and Charlie Devries quickly scored another from Spencer Reynolds & Baltrusiunas. That proved to be the game winner in the 6-5 victory for goalie Tyler Scott.
On the weekend, the Panthers took part in the Riverside Families First Weekend Tournament in Windsor. Ross Michalko & Tyler Scott had shut-outs in each of the 3 round-robin games. But the Riverside team’s goalie proved a puzzle in the semi-final, and after a scoreless game, the Panthers lost a heartbreaker in the 4th round of the shoot-out.
The league play-downs begin this week.
