Home Bantam Panthers faced a busy 3-game week.
They travelled to Grimsby for a win against Grimsby #2 on December 10th. A competitive 1st period ended with the teams tied at 2 thanks to Panthers’ a goal from Dan Durkin helped by Zach Baltrusiunas and from Spencer Reynolds assisted by Mitchell Karnay & Durkin. But from the opening of the 2nd frame, it was all Panthers with 7 unanswered goals.: Matt Vandenhaak, Ben Roptus & Karney each netted a pair and Jacob Gula picked up the single. Additional playmaker points went to Reynolds (2), Charlie Devries, Gula, Elliot Song, Baltrusiunas, Blaise Zantinge, Durkin & Roptus. Tyler Scott manned the pipes for the 9-2 win.
On Saturday, Dec 13th, the Panthers headed to Virgil to face NOTL#1 in a game highlighting goaltending skills at both ends of the ice. After a scoreless 1st period, Charlie Devries broke the ice with a sly upper deck shot helped by Jacob Gula & Ben Roptus. Mitchell Karney added a point on the power play from Spencer Reynolds & Gula. Ross Michalko earned the 2-0 shut-out.
On Sunday, it was Panthers vs. Panthers as they faced Pelham #3. Pelham 3 took the lead with a goal that beat the 1st period buzzer. Jacob Gula knotted it up in the second with a beautiful backhander helped by Ethan Wellman & Charlie Devries. Mitchell Karnay went bar down to score from Devries and Joey Natale unleashed the final goal of the game with the assistance of Matt Vandenhaak & Karnay. Goalie Tyler Scott earned the 3-1 victory.
