U15 LL#3 Tournament Champions
On November 19, 2023 Pelham Panthers U15 #3 Team were crowned champions of the Albert Schram 50th Memorial Tournament in Dunville, Ontario.
The U15 team was second in there division moving to the Semi Finals. It was a tough go, versus a tough team from Caledonia but the team persevered and clinched a spot to the championship game after the 5-3 win and after being down 2-0 after the first period.
The Championship game was a nail biter... Pelham lead most of the game with a 1-0 lead when in the third period a strong South Kent Lightning team came back and scored. We ended the regulation time as a 1-1 tie and went into O.T.
The overtime rules for this tournament was played by 5 on 5 for 5 minutes and then they start it over again if tied. But the next 5 minutes, there was a buzzer after every minute where each team had to remove a player. Well the first 5 minute overtime ended as tie. We were now removing a player every minute. We started strong, but ended up getting a penalty so we were short handed till the 2on2 portion. We held off the strong Lighting team and now we were at 1 vs 1. You could tell the exhaustion on the 2 players and goalies at this point. Both teams battled hard and it was still tied. Now, the tournament rules had us go back to a 2 vs 2. for 5 minutes. Well it was back and forth with both Goalies saving amazing shots. Then forechecking by Trent Traver in our zone lead to a break away and off he went with a low shot and VICTORY for the team.
Every player had amazing moments throughout the tournament and it was definitely a team win. The coaching staff are truly humbled by how much the players dug deep to win this tournament.
Congrats U15 LL#3 we are all very proud of you!
