Organization - Questions about the new season? START HERE in our FAQs.
Submitted By PMHA Secretary on Thursday, September 17, 2020
We are excited to welcome you to the 2020/2021 season.  We know you will have many questions, as we all do during this unprecedented time.

Before contacting PMHA with questions, please check if your question is listed here in our FAQ.   We'll add more questions as they come in.  Here's to a fun and safe season!

Why didn't I receive information about the upcoming development sessions?
If your player was registered for U8 or above, you should have received information by email about the upcoming development sessions by now.  Some of these went to junk folders. If you don't find it there, please contact the PMHA Registrar
What if I have a question about COVID-19 safety protocols that isn't answered here?
Please contact the PMHA Risk Management Director for more assistance.
What does the 2020/2021 season look like? All currently known details can be found in this article.
When are fees due? Full details on fees can be found in this article.
Payments are requested prior to September 19th, by either a full payment or in a 3 equal post-dated cheques, as follows: Sept 19, October 19 and November 19.
Please direct all payment inquiries to the PMHA Treasurer.

Payments can be dropped off with the front desk agent at the community center, in an envelope marked “PMHA Treasurer”.
Does our regular registration fee include the pre-season power skating and development sessions ? Yes, registration fees for 2020/2021 includes the power skating and development skates starting Sept 19. If you have already registered for the season you are included in the development portion of the season and should have received an email with your player's group.
Where can I find more information about the schedule for power skating and development sessions? You should have received an email by now with your group assignment. The schedule is also posted on the PMHA website.
What safety protocols are in place at the community centre?

As instructed by the OMHA, the PMHA will follow the guidelines and rules established by the Town of Pelham. General rules are as follows:

  • When you arrive, standard COVID-19 screening questions will be asked by the Town of both you and your child. You will have to sign in upon entry.
  • Masks are mandatory for EVERYONE entering the arena, players are not required to wear a mask on the ice
  • Please be completely dressed and arrive 15 min prior to your skate time, no one will be allowed in earlier than that.
  • Dressing rooms will be open. Please see what rooms are allocated to your time and be sure that no more than 10 skaters are in a room.
  • Please bring your own water bottle with your child's name CLEARLY marked on it and filled with water
  • When your ice time is complete the Town of Pelham requests that you and your child are out of the arena in 15 min.
Are you maintaining physical distancing on ice and on benches?
PMHA is following OMHA's Return to Play guidelines which call for on ice physical distancing at each phase. You can learn more about that here.
Coaches for all sessions (development, regular season) will be asked to help maintain physical distancing with players on ice (and on benches - when those are open) as much as they reasonably can.

Players will be asked to keep water bottles clearly labeled and separated.
Can we use the change rooms and benches? As instructed by the OMHA, the PMHA will follow the guidelines and rules established by the Town of Pelham. These rules may change, but currently we ARE allowed to use the change rooms, but NOT the benches.
Is my player's development group the same team they will be in for the regular season? No, these initial groups are for the development sessions only. Teams will be selected towards the end of September following the process established in the Return to Hockey framework.
Due to contact tracing requirements for COVID-19, development groups can not be altered at this time.
Will team groupings take into consideration the ‘bubbles’ that players are already in for their elementary schools? No. Teams of 9/10 will be in a 5-team maximum bubble to play each other, so even if the team was split they will be potentially practicing and playing with each other.
What if we can't make the development sessions? Will it hurt my player's opportunity to make rep? There will be no representative hockey programming offered for the 2020-2021 season. There will be no tryouts this season. This has been communicated from our governing hockey agencies. PMHA is keeping all programming in house to comply with all restrictions set forth by OHF, OMHA and public health.
When will coaching staff be determined? Coaching staff will be assigned during the team selection process outlined above.
How are we going to find so many goalies for all these teams? What is the plan for teams without a goalie? We have strong goalie numbers right now. Goalies will be spread out among teams when teams are being selected.
Will the regular season hockey be half ice or full ice? Games will follow the regular OMHA player pathway. U10 (Atom) and older will be full ice. U9 (Novice) and younger will be half ice
What happens to our fees if we go back on lockdown? If the season is canceled or suspended due to COVID-19, PMHA will reimburse the proportion of unused fees for the missed period.
