Full Registration has been re-opened for 2009 and younger players
Submitted By PMHA on Wed 05 10, 17
The PMHA would like to announce that our entire registration system is now OPEN.

We are able to accept registrations for ALL players born in 2009 and later at this time.

Please review the previous Registration Announcement article should you require further instructions found HERE.

Please continue to the next page for programming details and pricing.

As many are aware, the PMHA (as did other associations) had to review our offered programs to meet the new requirements decided by Hockey Canada regarding player that are 6 and under.

We do apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this period of change and adjustment may have caused. We too were a little surprised by the announcement's timing and have worked to re-configure our programming as quickly as possible.  As you know, the PMHA has actively begun transitioning from the old traditional hockey programming at this age to the new method three years ago - so we are quite prepared for these changes and supportive of the initiative.  There still may be more changes/alterations announced, so we will need to be flexible should further changes need to occur regarding some of the specifics of our program.  We thank you for your patience in this matter.

Effective immediately, the PMHA has instituted the following changes to our programs to best meet our association's purpose and to best serve our members' needs.  This will be a one year decision at this time as we just are not sure what other changes may come. We are also subject to further changes or mandates sent to us by our governing bodies, and we will keep those age groups affected up to date as required.

The PMHA will offer players of this age three separate programs.
- Novice Local League
- Junior Panthers Hockey
- Panthers Hockey School (beginner program)

2009 players - are to sign up for Novice Local League if they have played hockey before.  If the player has not played hockey previously, please contact us for more information.

2010 players - are eligible to sign up for Novice Local League, however may request staying in a more introductory program (see above for names of programs). If the player has not played hockey previously, we suggest signing up for the Junior Panthers program please.

2011 players - Option #1) may sign up for the new "Junior Panthers" program (formerly called the Tyke program). This will be a half ice / cross ice program only for all ice times as mandated by Hockey Canada. This is considered the Initiation program in the OMHA and Hockey Canada documentation.  Option #2) if there is a new to hockey 2011 player, they should sign up with the Panther Hockey School program

2012 players - Option #1) if the player has already participated in hockey, then they may sign up for the new "Junior Panthers" program (formerly called the Tyke program). This will be a half ice / cross ice program only for all ice times as mandated by Hockey Canada. This is considered the Initiation program in the OMHA and Hockey Canada documentation. Placement of these players will be reviewed once the season starts.  Option #2) if there is a new to hockey 2012 player, they must sign up with the Panther Hockey School program

2013 Players - any player born in 2013 must sign up with the Panther Hockey School.

* Please note * the PMHA is not a learn to skate program. Players must be able to move on the ice on their own, fall down and get up, and be independent in full equipment.  Please review your player's abilities prior to signing up for the PMHA.  If you would like more information or require further clarification, please contact us.

If you require any further information on where and which group you son/daughter should be registered in, please contact our PMHA Registrar Alyson at the following email:

[email protected]

The PMHA will be working over the next few months to re-publish our documentation pertaining to and giving a description of the programs we offer.

PMHA PROGRAMS AND FEES for our 2009 and younger players:

At this time we can announce the following, after careful review and planning, and with consideration to the new program restrictions and new program details:

Novice Local League

Our fee remains unchanged at  $650 .  This program involves playing in a local league with some travel around the Niagara Region to play games. Practices will be at 7:00 am on a weekday morning (which morning has not been booked yet)

Junior Panthers

The fee has been readjusted to $550 for this season.  This was lowered from the $625 fee originally scheduled. This is the program we used to refer to as Tyke.  This will have a 21 week program where players are on the ice twice per week. There will be early weeknight ice time (before 6:00pm start), and there will be early morning weekend ice times (typically Saturday mornings between 7 and 9 am start time). All programming will be done at the Pelham Arena.  Players will be put onto a team in the first few weeks after start up. Teams will then have a schedule of games against other Pelham teams to play in as well as their practice slots.

Panthers Hockey School

The fee has remained unchanged at $400 for the season.  This is the program we previously called the Junior Panthers.  This will have roughly a 20 week program, and the players are on the ice twice per week for 50 minutes each session. All players in the program are always on the ice together, and the PMHA will still be dividing them in to teams. Ice times will be in the early evening on a weeknight and early in the morning on a weekend date. There are no formal games for participants at this level.

** NOTE the Junior Panthers and the Panthers Hockey School may be sharing a divided ice surface at times with a group at either end, but not mixed together.

** NOTE the Junior Panthers and Panthers Hockey School will be on a set rotation and this schedule should be released by mid-September
