Team Captures 2 Silver Medals in Both Caledonia Challenge Cup and St. Mary's
Bantam AE tournaments. In Caledonia, the Bantam AE boys played some amazing hockey, winning the first 4 games by a combined score of 17-0, advancing to the finals vs. Huntsville. The boys had to overcome a 3-1 deficit after a sluggish start to go ahead in the 3rd period 4-3. Unfortunately, Huntsville rallied with 2 quick goals of their own, then held off a late charge by the Panthers to defeat our boys by a final score of 5-4.
In St Mary's, our boys once again jumped off to an amazing start in the tournament, again winning our first 4 games by a combined score of 15-0; advancing to the Championship game against host, St. Mary's Rock. The Panthers held the edge in play through most of the game, but the score finished tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time. In sudden-death overtime, the Panthers again were pressing, hitting the post once and missing on a few other occasions, sending the decision to a shootout. Another post by the Panthers in shootout, followed by some great saves by both goaltenders saw the final tally go to the St. Mary's Team as the 8th shooter notched the win for the home town Rock Team.
Our Bantam Boys should be proud of their accomplishment and the two silver medals...However, we renew our Quest for Gold as we head to Huntsville for the Winston-Watson Memorial AE tournament on November 27-29th. Go Panthers!
